Elon Musk is upset because openAI is no longer open source. This has
naturally nothing to do with Musk's own efforts at a monetized X AI, and
is only showcasing his efforts to benefit humanity. Meanwhile, the team
behind OpenAI's Skynet (read: microsoft) publishes a very objectively written
letter in response to this, stating that Musk didn't really contribute that much,
and going close source to fund its building of an AGI is worth the risk because
it will help Albania become a real country much faster.
Of course, anonymous netizens much like yours truly weighed in on this matter,
offering their own unique perspectives and harvesting up-arrows, an online
currency with no real-world exchange rate as of yet. Opinions vary, of course,
with some alleging this is a PR stunt and others offering their financial advice
on how a multi-billion dollar company could be run better. Worthy of note is the
point that really, you can fund this entire operation using Musk's and the US
government's money, because what could possibly go wrong then. Legal experts also
weigh in to dismiss Musk's claims and openAI's defense. Comments were had, laughs
were shared, insults were hurled back and forth, and nothing of value was gained
on this day.
